  • What is THCa?
Scientific Version: THCa (Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid) is the non-psychoactive precursor to THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the well-known compound responsible for the intoxicating effects of cannabis. THCa is found in raw, unheated cannabis and is chemically similar to THC, but it doesn’t produce a "high" because it lacks the ability to bind effectively to the CB1 receptors in the brain. Through a process called decarboxylation (usually achieved by heating or smoking), THCa loses a carboxyl group and transforms into the psychoactive THC molecule, which is responsible for the euphoric effects. THCa itself has been studied for potential therapeutic benefits, such as anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties. The Brokedown Version: THCa is the natural, non-psychoactive form of THC found in raw cannabis plants. It doesn’t get you high because it hasn’t been heated or processed yet. When you smoke or heat cannabis, THCa turns into THC, the compound that causes the "high." Because THCa is present in cannabis before it's heated, it fits into the federally legal loophole for hemp-based products. The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp with less than 0.3% THC, but since THCa doesn’t count as THC until it’s heated, it remains legal in its raw form. Cannabis on average only sits around .1 - 2.5% THC, with the rest being THCa. The federal Government defines "marijuana" as any product that is over 0.3% THC. Therefore there is a .3% "federally legal loophole" that allows us to offer high THCa exotic flower, vapes, and wax that is all natural unlike Delta-8, Delta-10, HHC, etc. To achieve this growers use seed of strains that have high THCa genetics with a low THC content on a dry weight basis. The Most famous of strains Strains that are actually high in THCa and low in THC on a dry weight basis are Runtz, Gelato, Tropicana Cookies, Wedding Cake, Zkittlez, and many more!
